because it would result in one being a real m3 and one being a fake m3...I'm just going to get the framed pulled and then eventually do a full restore to get rid of the rust that is starting to form...it would still be cheaper than buying a clean e30 3 series which could cost around $5-8k if its in good condition.

Definitely worth saving, if not for love of the car, any money you invest in an M3 is a good investment simply because they are ever elusive and the icon of BMW motorsports. Sounds like you should definitely be able to get the body straightened out and there are even more serious options.
From my Z community I know of a guy who I believe is in New Jersey, not sure but I can look it up. Anyhow somewhere closer to the rust belt, but he has a whole business replacing frame rails and doing EXTREME body repair and replacement. As in the entire underbody of Z's that were rusted out have been saved and restored to good as new if not stronger. (in case someone asks why would someone go through the trouble, besides the fact people love their Z's the very early production numbers and first Z's built are of course treasured and people who long distances to make sure they are saved)
Anyhow save her man!Different strokes for different folks.

Yea...if you have some time and money you can fix anything, the beauty of steel is that it can be welded, and bent, and formed. w/o pics it is hard to say, but I think you should consider repairing it, purchase a junker without rust in the same areas, and surgically replace the cancer, OR, have someone good with sheet metal bend some patches for you.

So it's the front portion of the car that's messed up? If anything you could take the front frame rails off of a standard E30 and graph them in. I agree the car is saveable, Take it to a restoration shop that specialized in older cars as mentioned above.1985 M10b18. 70maybewhpoffury. Over engineered S50b30 murica BBQ swap in progress.

i assume the reason the price seemed high was they were figuring in the cost of fixing the rust also ...iirc the pics showing the rust in the fender well showed the rust as being quite large may need to check the thread again...this kind of work is not cheap
basically if it was just an e30 id say fix it cheaply being an m3 you will want it done 100 percent the correct way
