Well the guy I bought it from said the head on it was replaced from a previous timing belt breaking. Gonna see if he went ahead and put an i head on it. I'm not really upset about it, just kind of unexpected.

Look for the #s 885 on the head.

Pics are on a previous thread titled "finally an e30 owner". And no I didn't really think of the tachometer only going to 6k cause I was too fucking excited cause I finally found an e30 in my area, and at the time I didn't know the redline differences, yes, huge fail on my part.

^thanks I'm already on it looking up the 327i builds. Reading more on these builds and results makes me feel better about this misunderstanding ha. Per dollar in the end would the "super eta" be more potent wise than a 325i? I read that 1988 has an 8.5/1 compression which is great for boost.

Intake side... also look at intake manifold as it is different on the I... Post pics and someone will identify it for you.

I really don't think the 2.7 i is more potent than the 2.5i, it seems compression ratio is the main problem. There are ways to get the cr up, but it costs.

Pull your valve cover and see if you have dual valve springs or single.

That is where 885 would be written, intake side middle of the head, that is an e intake for sure

Yeah, I think that's an e intake, not a super e or i intake. Are you sure about the valve springs? I thought only the i came with dual valve springs (one inside the other @ each valve).

That valve cover is an i or super e valve cover. The eta covers had a small mounting block towards the rear.
