I keep one in my trunk. After a leaky FPR on a friend's E30, I'm paranoid.

I know it'll smoke...but catch fire? Ive driven around for 2-3 hours at a time , and it has yet to catch on fire. And my car runs rich as well...

Not only that but it coats the whole underside of the car in oil. And my exhaust scrapes (Due to teh dipshits who i paid to make it)....Holy ticking time bomb batman.

Girlfriend complains alot about the smell anyway. I'll fix it as soon as spring rolls around.

I'm not doubting any of what anyone is saying. and after I hurd aboot Kershaws car bursting into flames I told myself I'd get one.

My trunk caught on fire on my Datsun 510. One of the tail lights remained illuminated after I'd parked and the bulb melted the plastic housing. It fell out and on to a bottle of oil where it continued to melt/smolder. It eventually caught fire. Best part of it was the date, 9/15/2001. It was my first day of a new job at a very corporate place and they sent multiple fire trucks and cop cars fearing it was a terrorist thing.

I would imagine it depends on where the oil hits the exhaust. Right on the exhaust manifolds could cause combustion I would assume, which would ignite wires and plastic, which in turn could result in flames. Fix your leak. And for those of you who don't do it, check your fuel lines yearly, and it doesn't hurt to check your FPRs when you are checking your oil and coolant, which I assume you do on a regular basis.

^ how did you mount those 2 on the battery box?
I need to do this one day.

More for being prepared for the worst than being paranoid that my E30 is a Fiero.

Its the rear main (m50) I replaced it when i had the tranny off. And for some reason it leaks about a quart to a quart and a half per week, with around town driving :/ .

So as im driving the wind blows it onto the exhaust. When i come to a hault it burns off.

Winter tiem=not fun to remove tranny. I wanted to take my car off the road. But that means im stuck with an 03 Corolla thats gay as fuck.

Always keep mine right here.. not that I've ever had any reasonn to be worried about fire.

                          Couldn't hurt though right?

Because a fire extinguisher is even cheaper than used parts. And less time consuming to install.
