140mph indicated in my 87 325is auto 2dr, probably 'bout 135mph actual speed. ran out of room, had to back off.
gps verified 138mph in my 88 528e 5-spd. car put down 124hp/153tq at 200k miles, ran decent i'd say.
in my 84 325e 2dr 5spd, got it up to 125 (gps) running open headers, got so annoyed with the noise i decided to slow down.Originally posted by BillBraskyThat's like Vlad challenging Chip Foose to a car painting contest.Originally posted by acolella76i'm pretty sure 'Phillis' is short for syphilis

135, both downhill with the m42 and on flat road with the m30. That was at redline in 5th with a 4.10 diff.
The m60 still had the factory limiter at 120 :( it would get there in about 14 seconds though :)
And I personally think e30's can be quite stable at high speeds. On my way to SoWo this spring I cruised at around 110 pretty much from RI to PA through the night. My e39 feels like a boat at those speeds.Byron

A fresh stock motor w 3.73 diff should achieve 140mph IMO. Just might take a long flat strait to get there. Unless of course e30 guages don't read true
Edit- stock etas may be an exception91 318is...DD:finger:/85 325es SOLD/91 318is RIP

130 something.. topping out my car, at my age, seems sort of rediculous. it's not fast enough to be safe, as in, it takes forever to accelerate after 130mph. too much time traveling at a high rate of speed. 100mph is rediculously easy though. If I sneeze on 3rd gear I'm at 95 before I have to shift. :)
oh.. M20 with a 4.10.. yay! :p
oh, stock, it was electronically limited at 125.
