itd be funny if the eta OP was driving was autotragic and he launched from drive only.

my eta is auto and it still jumps off the line pretty quickly in the lowest gear lol.
      SO MUCH MORE TO DO!!

        LOL'd@josh.

Both are 5-speeds, my 318 and the eta.
        Different strokes for different folks.

I'd still rather have the Eta with the above mods though.

It's kinda hard to compare 2 cars that are 25y/o.
the eta could have had a worn out motor, and the M42 still a really tight motor.
I am 100% sure any car would kill my current M42 - it is worn the hell out with 200,000 on it.
(I know this thread is about eta vs. M42, but..
M42 guys talk about their cars keeping up/faster than 325i cars all the time. There is no non turboed M42 that is going to be faster than my 325(327i)- but I have had some turd 325i cars over the years too, that a good M42 might have a small chance to keep up with.

stock Etas are turds...... the end.

There is no way a good running 318 would be slower than a good running eta at the track with equally skilled drivers.

            It wouldn't even be close.

about 100 pounds from what I gather. comes from the nicer carpet, sound insulation check control stuff, and the few extra lbs. from the 2 extra cyl.

                        Nice Trent!

So mine would be ~2602 lbs, that eta would be 2710 (85 2dr), 108lbs difference.

Also to consider, my 318 is at 220k, the eta was at 114k and well maintained just for the record.

One question though, why does it say 2209 lbs for the 4dr super eta? Typo?

In a mountain run it sure would. b25's couldnt sake my eta when we all used to go up there. Stock eta with cone filter and exhaust, shifting at 4900 and had LSD. :D
