    Painted block, yay or nay?

As much as I love the classic look of a gloss black block... there are some pretty rad looking painted blocks i've seen. Going to be painting my engine block in a few days after it visits the machine shop, and I was just looking for some ideas. Please post pics or thoughts or what have you...

    Not my pictures...

Yay. Paint it neon green with a black valve cove and intake.

I opted for the traditional black and silver because it looks cleaner and stock looking like it did when it left the factory without the cosmoline. On the other hand you can spot leaks easier with a lighter color on the block.

A friend of mine rocks a old civic with a pink powder coated valve cover.

His other car is a 2jz miata though... You know, gotta get back the manliness he lost due to the pink.

How's the rest of the bay going to look?
I'm a fan of wrinkle black everything and a random block color.

And yeah, way easier to spot leaks & where they might be coming from.

Black and silver is never bad. I just felt like while the block is out I might as well explore other options...

Here's my engine bay... It isn't this messy anymore. This was in its 'IDGAF how it looks, i need to fix it' stage. Probably going to keep the wrinkle black. Or maybe use the can of wrinkle red I have on the VC or the block... not sure. Also getting rid of that ugly coolant reservoir.

That wrinkle looks way too nice! I was debating this when looking for colors to paint my L28 from my Z. For a while I was thinking flat white block in a white car with white engine bay and then the rest chrome would look sweet, but you gotta remember one thing when going colored.

Over time all that heat and chemical exposure will affect colors, especially lighter ones. Personally that orange block looks wicked as well.

Your engine bay's color could take just about any color, also depends on your car's general color scheme imo.

The orange looks pretty hemi-tastic and a gray block wouldn't look bad either especially with a wrinkle black valve cover.

I usually go with a lighter color on the block because it allows you to catch leaks quick and spot where they are coming from. After its all together its not like you can really see the block. So do it whatever color tickle your fancy.

what are you guys using for your wrinkle black?

I used Harley wrinkle paint when I did my valve cover but that is wickedly expensive
