    PSA: Legislation HB-878

Figured this was more a car related public service announcement thing than political, and needed the attention of many, rather than the few who venture into P&R.

Everyone should look out for this type of thing in their own state. As for Va guys and gals, write your delegate to get this nonsense defeated.

Virginia bill threatens increased taxes on vehicle restoration projects.

What is the purpose of that bill other than being a blatant money grab?

    Such B.S.

That's to license a car, this is a tax on un-licensed, un-tagged cars. Parts cars, restoration projects, etc.

It costs me ~$50-60 per car right now to renew registration. That plus $16 to inspect, and there is a personal property tax on them as well. Not to mention the ~$100 to $200 tax when I went to register my M3 for the first time.

I do not need a tax on my parts/un-registered project cars(s). It's ridiculous.

I agree, I don't get how they can tax a car that's sitting in a barn or something. makes no sense at all. It would be cheaper to keep it licensed. Which is maybe the point - force people to pay license fees for cars that are sitting?

Its because of the stupid shits who put like 5 rusted out impalas on their front lawns.
I thank Nova for ruining most of our state.

It's insane. The car is not using (or is unable to use) the roads that are maintained by the state, therefore, why should we pay for them to be using the road?

Typical crap sent down from NOVa delegates.....

a agree, this is a BS attempt to take more money from tax payers. In RVA you have to have either the car either registered or inspected, drive it at least every 10 days, and not have it inoperable for more than 2 days unless its in a locked garage. car covers and private property doesnt count.

That's why I like Augusta Co. We will never get emissions inspection 'cause half the shops here lick and stick standard inspection stickers and 90% of the vehicles here won't pass emissions.

People here generally do not take kindly to the gvmt getting into everything.

Does not make any sense. Its like taxing someone for not flushing the toilet.
