The worst part about the LFA is the fact that you don't own it. Its a long term very expensive lease.
That said, its Lexus's first attempt at a super car. You have to start someplace, and I'd call this a pretty good start. Like I said, on the track it ran away from the Audi R8s, so its by no means slow. Do I want one, no. If I had the opportunity to drive one for a week would I do so? You bet. Take it to the track? Yes Please. Slamming it because of a lack of pedigree is pretty weak. Toyota has built a few pretty awesome cars, the Supra happens to be one of them.
In my mind, an R35 GTR is a huge waste of $$$$$$$$$. They seem to have serious reliability issues with the driveline, and the engine has a 50K mile lifespan. Sure its fast, unless its broken.
This car is failure for so many reasons. It doesn't have the prestige or heritage of a Porsche or a Ferrari. Can't match the performance of a GTR. Not as refined as a Aston Martin. Can't even beat the a Lamborghini in terms of outrageous styling. To make it worst its badged as an effing Lexus. Even if your a hick who just hit the lottery you still buy a lambo. The only niche it fills is the gayest niche in the world; "Just to be different." Which to me is like "just to be an attention wanting whore" This car might be the worst attempt at a halo car I've seen. They want you to look at this car and say lame phrases like: "This car is pure sex" and when you realize you can't afford it settle for an es300 (which really is a toyota BTW) because some of LFA design language as trickled all the way down to bargain basement cars. Please don't be fooled. There just posers of Merc/BMW.
I am glad you have an opinion, is it alright that we aren't all like you?
I for one love the way this car sounds better than just about any other production car I have heard. That engine is an engineering masterpiece, how many other production engine do you know of can rev from idle to 9k in under a second? And yes, it is their first attempt at a halo car, but at least they did it right. For a Lexus to be designed and engineered the way that car was speaks volumes about the company itself. They aren't afraid to break the mold of every other car they have ever made to make something rediculous that will actually make people stop and stare. And who gives a F*** about pedigree? If it's a great drivers car and puts a smile on my face, I really couldn't give a shit about the 400,000 ES300's that had to be built to make this car a possibility. Granted most people with this kind of money care a lot more about how a car makes them look than I do, but at least Lexus made a car for enthusiasts, not attention whores.
To all of you pompous assholes who bitch about pedigree, let me ask you this. Does a Lamborghini have pedigree?
Also by your logic, the Nissan GTR is shit because it has no pedigree and because Nissan builds boring regular cars for boring regular people. Sorry to disappoint you Enzo fucking Ferrari, oh yeah, those pedigree sports cars back in the fifties couldn't make it down the street without losing bits and then couldn't stop because the brakes only worked once.
Point is, regardless of badge it is a very impressive and unique car, and hey, you can tell yourself apart from your friends at the yacht club.

Hey now, the GTR is part of the Skyline GTR heritage which, believe it or not, has more impressive racing pedigree than the M3. It won so many races that they had to ban it. I do agree with your point though.
To the guy calling the car a "failure": they've practically sold every unit at half a million dollars before they were even built, and keep building more because there's so many buyers out there. If that's failure, sign me up.
