NewB Looking For Help, Interested In This Car (Warning Ladies---Bronzit Inside)

Trying to get my ducks in a row before talking to the owner, viewing, then potentially purchasing this car.

I know I need to try and get service records, timing belt, guibo bearing, ect.

What else should I be looking at on this car? I'm new to BMW's but have been a long time fan. I want one for a daily real bad. I feel the cars of today lack so much character. I have been searching Craigslist for months and this one has landed in my back yard...

Any help would be great, looking forward to becoming a part of the community.

I can get past Bronzit, but a 4 door too? Dammed man, why?

Rust would be my 1st consideration on an east coast car for sure, floors, under rear apron, wheelhouses, etc.

    I faking hate rust.

I really like the look of the 4 door + I've never owned a 4-door car.

I just spoke to the owner. it is a 4 owner car and he has all the service records. It was a California car up until last year. Has a slight amount of surface rust on the front valence.

2 issues he informed me of...

      1) Has a slightly erratic idle when started on very cold days that clears up after 2 minutes.
      2) has a light vibration coming from the passenger side rear wheel between 35 and 40 mph.

      Mint interior, no dash cracks.

I have to buy this tonight as I am going on a trip Thursday and I don't think this car is going to last through the weekend. (not a lot of rust free e30's this close to home)

Any more thoughts/Info besides the 4-door bronzit bashing. Trust me, I will make it look good.

no idea why the 4 door hate or the bronzit hate. it's really prevalent and i think that it's pretty stupid. (that said, i've owned 4 2 doors. w/e...)

        1. erratic idle, icv has to be cleaned.
        2. wheels arent completely balanced / motor mount / bushing of some sort

        i dont think i'd pay over $2500.

I am also thinking about looking at this one. Mileage seems high for the asking price though. here is what the current owner told me. What do you guys think???

"No service history the 40+ year old women told me she replaced struts wheel bearing and a few other random thing with her local shop

          Car is stock

          Tires are prob half worn

I did the timing belt 3 k miles ago with water pump belts intake and exhaust gaskets and head gasket

Clutch feels great no issue at all not sure when it was done

Brakes are all in good shape

Guibo wasn't cracked when I had it in air

And you could bring it to your mechanic and it will pass state inspection with flying colors

I've got a few trade offers on cars i don't want and a few local guys I work with said they have friends interested Thats about all I have it on 3 diff sites right now but if you give me a date you want to come look at it I'll hold it till them I'm driving it every weekday 50 miles round trip to work

          Thanks al"

I am going to look at the red one tomorrow. This will be the first E30 I've ever driven. What should I expect?

So the seller of the zinno is firm on price. I think 3k is a bit high for a 190,000+ mile car. I'll probably sink atleast 2k into this thing right off the bat. I think I am going to hold onto my money and keep searching. I found a vert recently on LI with 100K for $1,800 so I know if I keep searching the right deal will come, I missed that car by one day!!!!. I appreciate the help so far guys!
