    I've owned every motor offered in an e30 cept the s14. The eta is smoother, quieter, and pulls harder than the m42. The best has to be the m20i. Period.
    I can't lie and say the m42 wasn't fun though.

    and for the record, the m20b20/23 revs faster than the m42.

            The only "i" and M combination I can think of is an m42 with an s14 head. I don't know enough about those engines to say that it's what you have, how many people actually do it, etc.

                  M20 with i intake, etc. I can't see your stroke from that angle.

                  The M part is the oil filler cap.

                      yup, sorry OP but that is not an M head.. oil cap is M though, that is cool.

                      M20 I head and block.. that is a good combo to have, keep it lubed and taken care of and that engine will last you a long long time.

                      or if you want to turbo it, i have seen people on this forum pull 300-400 horses on the very engine you have there...

                          Lol she wasn't much to look at and that's for sure, but it's all good I honestly wasn't believing the whole m head thing anyways. But it is fun and seems pretty solid..does have a few leaks that I need to make time to fix but besides that it's always started and doesn't over heat haha
