Because they have no torque at all
There is no 'M' head that bolts onto an M20. Take pics. I am thinking either you got taken for a ride or it's an M5x with S5x head (which also means you got taken for a ride, M heads are no different than their base model variant..)-AlexComment

m40 is the ultimate shitty motor, m42's have another cam and hydraulic lifters.
also, eta's have 20 less hp than the m42 stock with more weight.
so much hate! I'd rather take a 168hp m42 over an 168hp m20 anyday, torque or no torque... it's just a better engine in every sense except for displacement.
At the same power levels the m42 is always going to rev faster, like being in the higher revs better and weighs less.Comment

lets see, buttchugz has a built motor on forged internals, and gets close to 300whp, CLOSE TO!lolno

frozensolid has a refreshed m20b25 with STOCK internals and STOCK HG making almost 500whp! WHAT!?
yep m20 winsComment

Different strokes for different folks I guess, and I mean that literally. There is no replacement for displacement. And when has an M42 made 168hp stock? They made 134hp/127tq from the factory.lolno

BMW also sleeved down an M10 to 1.5L and produced close to 1300hp, CRAZY!!!!! Boost is totally different than NA.-AlexComment
