You've been around long enough Ken, I think you know what I mean. I motors really need to be refreshed IE: bearings, seals, gaskets, valves/ guides checked after 250k. I'm not saying there aren't exceptions to the rule, but I know from my experience that an I motor over 200k could totally benefit from the afore mentioned things. Wear and tear is wear and tear. 250k is alot of miles on any motor, even an m20. An eta with its low revving nature will (in a vacume) last longer, but its still worn @ 250k.Originally posted by KenC View PostMotor "refresh" entails what? You sound like a used car salesman.
I don't think $2600 is unreasonable. I'd offer $2250. It's a b25 with a recent timing belt job done. Looks clean. No rust from a PNW car. Looks like a great unmolested platform.
Does the AC work?
My motor has be taken care of since 120k. That's when I bought it. The compression is still good across the boards, but with 220k on it, I wouldn't want to push its luck. Bearings wear out. It's a simple fact. That's why I am building a motor. So I can have it for another 200k.Yours truly,
Rich
