Well since I Was in the same boat I'll share my Opinion. My 88 325is is Black and had the Cardinal interior. Here is what I did, purchased Black leather front panels, dyed the rear seat, rear panels, rear deck, carpet. I've got just the cardinal sport seats in the car and plan on recovering them in Black cloth. No one yet has noticed that the interior is dyed. The carpet isn't holding the dye to well and is showing the tan in high wear spots by the clutch and gas pedal.(P.O. cut the cardinal carpet in half as he was racing the car and only kept the front half).
I love the Black interior, and every one says the car looks way better and newer with the black interior
If I did it again I'd buy Black carpet, black front panels, and a black rear seat, but dye the rear panels and rear deck.

          No.

I vote for cloth euro or Black "M3" seats. Keep in mind the converts have the same front seats as well just less likely to be in as good condition as M3 seats.

The Grey Cloth interior is comming directly out of a European M3. So technically its a grey cloth M3 interior. Something not common here in the USA.

The black leather one is a regular US interior.

I'm getting whichever I want for free so cost isnt an issue.

My cardinal is faded, and a little hard. And unless I dye it, it still looks like ass. Therefore swapping to something new and dyeing it and selling it is the best option i think.

How's the condition of the cloth? Used cloth interior is tricky because it can be ripped, stained, stinky, etc. Whereas black leather can be cleaned and treated easier.

                    For free!?

I would vote for the cloth m3 interior, grey. Sounds like an awesome deal.

mmmm I think I've decided what will be done.

Sadly I wsa informed the front M3 Grey cloth seats were given to someone else who was in need of them. Therefore I think the plan will be the Grey euro cloth doorpanels, which came with manual window cranks in the M3... and black m3 front and rear leather seats.

I am very dissapointed the cloth m3 fronts are gone.

And yes, its all free, sort of.... I work for my dad and "mods" happen to "find there way into my hands"

Personally I like the red interior....many moons ago when I was 17 driving an E12 528i, it was white with the red interior and I loved it.

But if you go with the M3 blk leather interior then you'll get the good sport seats found only in the M3's & cabriolets as well as the nice rear seat.

EDIT: the sport seats hold you firmly in place, even on the track as long as you fit into them correctly........I've never experienced a lack of grip with the leather....the bolsters hold you firmly in place.

cloth is gripier. Hense why Hartge cars came with cloth seats. I fit the sport seats fine, but after driving many race cars with Sparco's/Momos etc.... leather is to smooth and slippery. ;)
