    lots of ads and not as simple as carfax but free is free.

    also you can go to my.carfax.com to see maintenance / smog history info. it's a carfax report without the registration / accident history.

    Its free. The 15ish times I have used it, the information in this free site matched the Carfax I had run by a buddy who works at a Mercedes dealership.

    I now trust this site enough to no longer ask my friend to run VINs for me for free.

                                        So I got a 2005 Nissan Sentra, and I didn't do enough history checking from the two big sites. Both Motosnoop's autocheck and vehiclehistory's carfax both list no accidents but I need service records(like when was the last timing belt replacement). I don't know what service this car has had, but with the glove compartment box needing to be fixed, and a visor added from a junkyard, along with dirty floors, a broke off lever of something, and the cruise control not working, I don't know if this car's repairs were done professionally. It's not financed though.
