I talk sooo much sh*t to one of my supervisors at work because he's 32 & thinks it's cool to dress like a lame-ass hipster LOL, ride a stoopid fixed gear for the bright colors, & wants to get a 70's TransAm. I asked him "why get a TA?" then he said "because everyone (hipster kids he hangs out with) wants one. Loooooser!!!

Hipsters are stupid. All of them are wannabes. None of them do the things they do because they "like" it; they do it because the scene likes it. Hipsters that do vintage stuff because they like it are much more down to earth and aren't pretentious pricks. They're elitist for sure, but they aren't pricks like 95% of hipster the demograph who are wannabes


I could give a crap less if people label me a hipster because I wear beanies all the time, have a beard, have Toms, skinny jeans, Sperry's and the like. I do what I like. Plus I was doing this before it was initiated into the hipster sense of "cool". I didnt need a scene to tell me it was cool cause I was literally doing this stuff 5+ years ago in Jr. High before I even knew what typography of cultures even meant. I just did it

Ok.. so tell me what I'm missing here. Maybe Im just a old focker or something, but then I was in my 20s being "hipster" was ...actually hip. Or cool, or _________ . (Positive adjective for being cool).

I interpret now, hipster to mean a self-agrandizing, smug, better than you...cause my mental acuity and 20k per year millionaire status allows me to wear beanies, girls low rise, muffin top jeans, with converse and big ass scarves, generally in plaid or taffeta. Navy pea coats, although I get seasick in anything besides a Donzi.

Someone, post some pics of today's "hipster". I'm kind of thinking, most all of the R3v members, might be close to fitting the profile, but...like I said, I an old fuck.

Are you from Brooklyn/East Village? Are you 18-32 with no discernible income besides your folks paying for your 3k/month loft? Do you pay 300 dollars for used clothing?

Short answer, a "hipster" is basically a yuppie without a job but the same spending and consumption habits. Basically all the pretentiousness of a noveau-riche bougie, but none of the actual money. Whereas your yuppies are at least workaholics during the day, your true "hipster" doesn't do shit but spend Mom & Dad's money.


Or, if you're on the internet, anyone under 240 lbs and who owns a pair of jeans they didn't buy at walmart is a "hipster", whatever.

Also, and I hope this doesn't irritate anyone who has made posts like this in this thread, but the CLASSIC hipster line is to say "oh I've been doing that since before it was cool". Hipsters see themselves as trend setters who move onto something else before it becomes too mainstream. They are notorious for looking down on those who aren't "on the same page" as them. I find that they flock to each other haha.

I can totally see the e30 being a hipster car as it fits that slightly hard to acquire vintage status. As bad been said previously, I would think a hipsters e30 would differ greatly from an enthusiasts.

also i met hexagone at sowo last year, pretty hip dressing guy, though he was cool as shit and his set of 3piece wheels he had on his clown shoe costs more than most of the e30's on here.
