Dude, I live in Redmond. If you don't work at Microsoft, or at least some type of tech company, you either have to bail out or be a hipster. I like the town so I chose neither of the 2 options. Luckily the hipster girls around here are generally good looking, but they're always broke. I have to pay for fucking EVERYTHING every time I find a date. Should just park the E30 in the garage until it is a real classic, and in the mean time drive a '92 Accord or something. It's funny how these hipster girls want to rebel from their rich parents, but like old "yuppie" cars. At least E30 'verts anyways.

just watch that evo of a hipster and I must be in the capital of Hipsters then. I live in a rich hippy town and all I ever see at the bars are hipsters. At least we still have the hicks to keep the playing field even.

                Begin hipster rant///

Many of the kids on here seem to be hipsters, at least as far as I can see... but then again, I could be wrong. I mean no malice by that, nor am I trying to incite anyone.
Being called a hipster is an insult, so no one(hipsters), is quick to own the title because when you break it down, they aren't even a counter culture, because they stand for absolutely nothing.
They are walking contradictions of themselves(not in a cutesy hipster irony way). They're relentless consumers. As much as they rail against consumerism, they're actually the slaves to it, constantly trying to discover the next big thing. You see, as soon as that trend becomes mainstream, they lose all of their relevance, so they are on to the next thing. The cycle continues on and on. They literally create nothing.
Of course they never notice this.

They exist in all their unwarrented self importance, judging people who are wearing some American heritage piece, even though they themselves just started wearing(sperrys, red wings, ll bean, jcrew, filson, gitman, sierra designs, REI mountain works, plaid ets)about a year or two ago. They only judge because as soon as something becomes popular, they lose their relevance, their identity. This particular thing bugs me the most because I've worn sperrys, Jcrew(before they became the purveyors of everything hipster), RL, LL bean, Clarks and other American heritage brands for the better part of my life in the Adirondacks. This kind of stuff has a place in the heart of those who truly understand its relevance and utilize its functionality. It's petty, but it's infuriating to see some shiftless hipster wearing a f-cking kelty bag and red wing boots while dwelling in the streets of some large city trying to make a statement. An era so beautifully lived shouldn't be subject to such replication.

Tumbler(a hipster cesspool) perpetuates this. Hipsterdom has gone viral. It exists ,for the most part, for people to constantly post glamour shots of materials and lives that will never exist. It is, in my opinion, an online extension of the inner hipster in that if people post or own things that are valuable and/or rare, that they, themselves, are a valuable, worthy and credible person. I think it all has to do with the hipster youth culture we live in this day and age. The guitar hero nation, where everyone wants to be a rockstar, but no one wants to learn the cords.
                Zinno... you are fucking brilliant.

                  Are these hipsters?

I'm pretty sure only hipsters lie down in train tracks to be cool.

i find it fairly indicative of insecurity and intolerance that 'hipster' is now used as a derogatory term.. similar to calling someone 'liberal'.

so fucking what. leave their car preferences/clothing choices/place of employment/university degree out of at and just call it like it is: there are annoying people in all walks of life.

lawl. maybe. but you won't find me decked out in ironically threadbare urban outfitters clothing, riding a brakeless fixie 'cause it's cool', and sporting wayfarers.

all i know is i've been the way i've been, and now there's a goofy word for it.

Half these arguments are essentially "i was drinking pbr/dressing this way/driving an e30 before it became cool"

Which is the ultimate hipster argument

                              Smh at all these hipsters
