Definitely.
you can put duct tape around the whole seal and odds are you will fix it. yes. You will see where it leaks in and you could try to silicone it.
People with average IQ shouldnt have a problem fixing it, and they do sell replacement seals... which as noted dont fix the problem. its a peice of plastic held in with rubber grommetsYour signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

ya they sell the rubber seal but unfortunately thats not the problem it actually leaks in from the plastic, its no longer flush to the rubber....the edge on mine is gone where the the brake light is.
Cant fix that so much as you can seal where its coming in on the trunk side( in a square over the whole light area. real duct tape is waterproof...). or maybe take the actual rubber out, and bondo it. Lots of ways to fix it just what seems easiest to you.
I know someone who answered actually got a whole new trunk lid and painted it red that works too but which is really the bigger hassle?
waterproofing or painting?Last edited by stamar; 03-26-2012, 06:54 PM.

I feel like there would be issues with paint matching when replacing it with a different lid. Different batches of paint (always a slightly different color) what kind of condition the different lids were exposed to over the years...when you repaint it at least you can blend it in.The first car I ever rode in was an e30

To be honest, I haven't really thought about it. I have no money to do anything on my car, so i've ignored the leaking light. My dad's is removed and the holes are filled (I assume so because there's a rusty toolkit and rust-colored foam bits under there) and it looks perfect. The first car I ever rode in was an e30
