NA 944s are slow, except for maybe the S. I think a carbed 914 would be badass to autocross with.

especially if you drop a 2.7 in it.

Hence the name of the spoiler...."whale tail" Anyway, are the old 911 and 930 porsches fairly reliable cars? Could they be dependable daily drivers?

00MPH- yes, if you are mechanically inclined, you could drive them everyday. The later the better of course, but if you are hard core, you could daily just about any 911.

Rob, before I looked at E30s, I looked at 911s from the 70s and I read they aren't reliable at all. I read that their engines go out at like 70k miles! I don't know if this is completly true or not, but it wasn't a chance I wanted to take.

thats complete bullshit. THe only porsche engines that crap out at 70k are the ones that people treat like honda motors and never touch...Porsche are not hondas, they're porsches. But they are well engineered, and with routine maintenance, a porsche, just about any porsche, can be daily driven. Yes, it will cost you more, and yes, they are expensive to fix. If you're a cheap fuck and think that you can buy a 8K porsche and not maintain it, well of course you'll have a POS unreliable car before too long (i'm not implying you're that way at all matt...)

Its the same thing with BMW's being 'unreliable', If you dont treat them like the somewhat finnicky and precise vehicles they are, then yes, they will leave you stranded. On the other hand, if you are willing to get dirty, or have the funds to pay someone else to do it, then you'll be like me; I've never been left walking by either of my 'unreliable' cars.....

The mid 70's 911s aren't the most reliable cars. Porsche started experimenting with fuel injection then... but when the SC debuted in '78 all of the problems were gone. The 3.0L SC is a tank.

Not a prob. I used to be a Porsche FANATIC, but I've toned down over the years.
