    Thanks, George
Somebody just sold slant nose drop top 911 for 11K, but it wasnt original, it had replica kit, but looked sick, had Ruf deep dishes on them, black on black, sick!

    :)
that is way too cheap, I just paid 3Gs for the set of mint condition 17" RUF rims with new tires, I wanted these rims for the past 5 or 6 years and could not find a decent set (they are NLA). As soon as I bought it I was offered $3500 for it. So 11Gs for the slant nose drop top with RUFs is waaaayyy too cheap if you consider just the price of the rims

Wow there is so much miss information here i don't even know where to start. :( i am a porsche mechanic and have been for the last year. i went to school for 2 years and now i work for a local porsche shop (web site is in my sig). i will start off with any front engine porsche is crap. the 924/944 etc are horable cars. the 928's fall into the same park even though we do work on some GTSs. i would never own one other than a 928 that i was planning on haveing soem fun at the track with. those motors can go out to 7L and then they build some nice supercharged kits.
i don't remember who it was that has the 72 911 but keep that car. there are not alot older porsches out there these days and the 72s are really rare because people put gas in that tank on the passengers side. :D we work on three 1972s. all are in great shape and the owners know what they have. the later mid 70s 911s are great cars other than the engines. they leak sooooooooo sooooooo much. they are not that good of a car for the average person. now for me they are great because i know how to fix them and it doesn't cost me anything. but for everyone else i would stay away from those cars and get a 78-83 911 SC. those cars rock. those motors are so tough and they are bullit proof cars. nothing bad to say about those.
the later carreras are really good cars. they are the last of the classics. they had a few mor problems than the SCs did but in general great cars.
the 964s are probably worse than the mid 70s 911. they are not old enough to be a classic porsche yet they are still pretty modern. people are not really into dumping alot of money to fix them right because of that. the leak like there is no tomarrow and the motors are horrid. porsche started going in the right direction with the suspenion change but forgot about the motor.
the 993s are sick rides. they are the best porsche air cooled models ever built. enough said.
996  :D :D :D i like alot. very good cars and the 997s look like they will be sweet also.
now back to the slant nose. if its an original slant nose it could be up in the $50k price range. the aftermarket ones can sometimes take away from the cars value. the real ones are super rare and bring in a pretty penny. we actually have a 83 turbo sitting out back that got hid in the rear. it has an aftermarket slant nose kit on it with some HRE rims. well the car is going to the crusher because it is such a POS.
at my work we also build motors for porsches. in the past cupple of years we have built the TWO fastest CIS turbos in the country. the first one put down 392hp/ 697ftlbs at the wheels. the guy is a doctor in down and drives it around all the time. the other one i can't remember the numbers off the top of my head but it had more HP and a little less torque. that guy also drives it on a regular basis. he takes it on road trips and beats the hell out of it. great car and both are super reliable.
porsches are reliable if you get one with the engine behind you, you stay away from the models i mentioned above and you have the car serviced regulary. you can't be afrade to spend 1g on a norbal brake job. they take money for these cars to go down the road. they are the best cars in the world and they didn't come by that building crappy cars. yea they have made a few mistakes in the past but the pros outweighed the cons by a long shot.

I totally forgot that I had a picture of that guy's 930 Slant. (If any of you are near the Camas, WA area you may have seen it.)

Bulletproof assuming proper maintenence. The driveline is designed to accept twice the power that the motor can put out. One of the major problems however is electrical gremlins. They aren't very cheap to maintain though... so watch what you get yourself into.
