I came home today and the car was transferred from the county to Redman's towing company. They apologized for not getting proper information about the person who called it in. However, I have used their service three times and they have asked me for my full name, address, phone number, and license #. They are an excellent towing company but something about this just doesn't add up.
since you said they used a MASTER key and you had the only key. I would be contacting the local BMW dealers to find out if they cut one or if they gave out the code for your vin. This may lead you to crook as they most likely presented some id and bogus docs to get it but at least the id should have a picture. The BMW key codes are some of the most difficult to come by now as they uslly want a valid registration and insurance card. I have even been told they won't cut a key or give a code for a salvage title car if its off the road. So somebody knows something.
What really got my attention is the Tow Company as I live in Indiana and was in Alexandria a couple years back. I was thrown into the jersey wall by a semi on 495 and the tow company that came and got the mess was Redman's. What a small world.
True^ when I worked for dodge, you needed a copy of the title and registration along with a drivers licence (all were photo copied for our records) for us to cut you a key.
I used to do it a lot for repo companies and they also had to provide paper work from the finance companies.
