you can do it even cheaper if you use a old phone lying around. sign up for minimal service, should be around a few dollars for a whole year. turn all volumes to 0, hard wire into electrical system and stash somewhere hard to find. You can even take the guts out and put into a plastic box to make it look like a relay or something. but with this cheaper way, without the gps phone, they can only trace it to about a 1 mile radius, I think. alot better than nothing or you can do what's on the link.

and maybe a nv camera. i installed one watching the front of my house. the omnious red nv LEDs keep my cars untouched. i once left my e30 unlocked for 2 weeks and my ipod in plain sight. no one touched it. my street gets a lot of traffic and it's not in a great neighborhood. lower middle class.
