If nobody thinks $180 for used ellipsoids aren't worth buying, why anyone would buy those and why anyone would sell those for that kinda price?
I'm sure you saw those lights on r3v or bimmerforum classifieds at some point.
If 20yrs old used hellas are far worse than $180 Chinese knockoff, people wouldn't pay $180 for those. Do you honestly think people who buys used hella/boschs don't know about those ebay euro smileys? I've seen mixed reviews on ebay depo chinsese smileys and that's probably why people would rather have 24 years old headlamps over 'brand new euro smileys for $180'.

Just saying that you don't think used hellas are worth $25 doesn't mean anything. By the way, the last link you posted, that's just for a left driver's side.

Most of the guys who buy the chinese knock of ones over here end up selling on very quickly and going back to oem bosch or hella, depending on make of year.

Some of the lads actually have paid £390+ for new lights, not from the dealers, but other suppliers.

The secondhand maket for lights is still strong and it's now getting more and more difficult to find a very good set for less than $100 per side.

So it's down to supply and demand on the pricing of secondhand lights atm.

Hell Im not even arguing about it Im definitely grabbing all of them I see in junkyards. Im not paying that much ever so Id better.

I trip out watching people arguing with eachother on r3v limited sometimes. Im positive Im not disagreeing with anyone.

If you have a parts retail business/hobby you have a very different bottom line than just an individual who has some auto parts and doesnt have the car anymore. Im usually buying auto parts from someone on craigslist not a specialist forum to that model...

Ill worry about all of this if I sell mine someday.
