Maybe bad signal from sensor? Have you tried hitting your dashboard to solve the problem? Lol.

Funny you mention it. When driving w the cruise on, if I tapped n the speedo w my finger the needle would twitch and cc would disengage.

Did this just happen recently? Have you touched anything toward the differential area lately? It might be a bad connection from the speed sensor on the diff or a bad connection from the back of the cluster. Mine had the same symptoms awhile back and it ended up being the cluster/speedo itself.

Speedo isn't run off of the SI batteries like the tach is. Definitely a bad connection somewhere. Does it always do that or just some of the time?

I dont think oil would get it to do that. The fact that the cluster responds to finger taps leads me to believe that the problem is somewhere in the vicinity of your cluster. Have you done anything else lately prior to this problem? For the most part, new problems that occur are usually due to old problems we fix if the time frame are close. Lol.

Hope this helps but heres what I did to fix mine. I also re-soldered a couple of other points to fix my erratic coolant temp needle also.

Mine did this before I reflowed all of my solder joints on the cluster PCB. Took all of maybe 20 minutes to do including cluster removal and installation.

Explanation: e30 intrument clusters are gay.

Something is always fucking up in them just pick a gauge and it will fuck up eventually.

You can try reflowing the solder, as the issues usually are from cracked solder joints, I have tried this with mixed sucess.

Probably the diff sensor plug. It gets crusty and causes issues.

So it goes from the diff straight to the cluster?
