Got spanked by a Honda Civic DX Hatchback... need to start my project!

He had been driving a little aggressively since I turned onto the mainstreet. I was pole position at a red light with a large 4-lane street ahead of me and he was right behind me. Right from the start, I mash the throttle and hold it there. At around 4K rpm in 1st gear, he slides over into the next lane and starts creeping up to me (he's @ my driver's quarter panel). I think he has to shift because he stopped gaining for a second, but then continues to gain and puts a CL on me before I hit 3rd gear. At that point: I shutdown, give him a thumbs up, and scurry away with my tail between my legs.

They're 100hp, 1.5L, and weigh much less. I think when you work the power-to-weight ratio, we should be very close. It doesn't help that I was in the '90 325is with automatic tranny. Also, his car wasn't BONE stock, but it didn't sound crazy either.

Anyways... more reason for me to get my '87 finished off and start beefing up the '90...

Here's where I currently am with the '87:

I had to replace the entire rear end because of this:

2 years ago, I did the typical stupid n00b driver 180 degree spinout in the rain and slammed the driver's rear wheel into a curb. I've only just now gotten around to fixing it.

Yeah... you never know with those damn cars. They can have anything from butterflies to 300hp motors under the hood.

Jeez, i used to beat my buddies '00 integra gsr, and that was back when my "is" was still a 2.5 litre. He may have put a d16z6 head on there and it was really a sohc vtec engine, wich have around 130hp. I have seen those engines, with bolt ons (intake, header, cam gear, etc...) run high 14 second 1/4's. Ah well, autotragic claims another victim.

"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.

It's true. I know a guy with an integra that looks stock from the outside, but has a built motor that revs to 9k and pulls E36 M3s.

My friends ITR powered Civic hatch looks and sounds stock and will rape probably 9 out of 10 cars on this forum.

But that doesn't change the fact that street racing an auto E30 vs. a Civic is gay.

Someone said it. Took longer than I thought it would, but someone said it.

Now I'll say something. Who gives a fuck?

I've never considering an e30 a street racer. They hold their own in corners, and personally...I don't care how fast FWD is...I'll never like it. LOL

If the guy was looking for a race, he probably had some confidence in his car (ie it's somewhat modded)

ROFL!!! I did the same thing the second day I got my car! Something to be proud of... I think not. A memory I cherish, hell yeah!

Luckily, I didnt sustain that much damage, just a horrible bent/chewed/crushed/destroyed/mangled bottlecap rim.
