He had been driving a little aggressively since I turned onto the mainstreet. I was pole position at a red light with a large 4-lane street ahead of me and he was right behind me. Right from the start, I mash the throttle and hold it there. At around 4K rpm in 1st gear, he slides over into the next lane and starts creeping up to me (he's @ my driver's quarter panel). I think he has to shift because he stopped gaining for a second, but then continues to gain and puts a CL on me before I hit 3rd gear. At that point: I shutdown, give him a thumbs up, and scurry away with my tail between my legs.
They're 100hp, 1.5L, and weigh much less. I think when you work the power-to-weight ratio, we should be very close. It doesn't help that I was in the '90 325is with automatic tranny. Also, his car wasn't BONE stock, but it didn't sound crazy either.
Anyways... more reason for me to get my '87 finished off and start beefing up the '90...
Here's where I currently am with the '87:

I had to replace the entire rear end because of this:

2 years ago, I did the typical stupid n00b driver 180 degree spinout in the rain and slammed the driver's rear wheel into a curb. I've only just now gotten around to fixing it.
