everyone peep this if you want to live

The original Range Rover is perhaps the best vehicle that Land Rover has ever made. Post any of your photos (or videos) here of original Range Rovers (1970-1995). Photos of modified Range Rovers, conversions, trailers, and work-in-progress / project vehicles are welcome. Remember to only post content about original / classic Range Rovers. To maintain the focus of the group, photos which do not have an "original" Range Rover in them will be removed. Is it a Range Rover? Many people who see old Land Rovers will often mistaken them for Range Rovers as they look similar at first glance since most Land Rovers share somewhat boxy styling. Take a look at the group pool to get familiar with these Range Rovers if you aren't already. Looking for some support with your Range Rover? Or just want to learn more? Below are some sites you may find interesting. www.Range-rover-classic.com has a huge amount of history on these Range Rovers, including conversions, brochures, and special events that these Range Rovers where used in. The site also covers earlier models; all the way back to 1970 when the Range Rover was introduced. www.Rangerovers.net is a large and active site containing a staggering amount of information on Range Rovers of any vintage. Some of the site's sections include history, classifieds, and an extensive trouble-shooting section. For those interested in original Range Rovers, it's most useful for the 1987-1995 U.S. specification models (though owners of the later "Vogue" versions outside the U.S. may find this site helpful as well). For more Range Rover group action, here are some links to related groups on Flickr: The Land Rover group (for all Land Rovers). For Range Rovers of any vintage. Lastly, Range Rover Conversions And Optional Equipment for special coach-built Range Rovers, including fire engines. The group's icon and banner photo was taken by BHCMBailey. Interested in more groups? Remember that you can search for groups on Flickr. There are a lot more Land Rover groups than just these! Feel free to use the discussion section of this group! Just please remember to play nice, and no commercial activity (a Flickr policy)! Happy Flickrering!

So, just to update my Rover endeavor.

Rode out to Chick Fil A and was being a dick driving up onto the bank over the curb, etc. City cop eyeballin' me the whole time..

Then, as I'm leaving, tearing out of there in my 190hp 4x4 goodness, there's a loud grinding nose from the rear.

      FACK!

Get 'er the <1 mile home and park it. I know exactly what's wrong.

Go to work the next morning and order two rear calipers. Hokay. Nice.

Look up the bleeding procedure. Hokay. Fuck that looks like it sucks bollocks.

Throw the RR on the lift and remove the left rear wheel, brake pads. Check movement of the caliper pistons, smooth and clean.

Move on to the other side. Holy shit, the inboard pad is stuck between the caliper housing and the rotor. Metal-to-metal-to-metal. Thing is smoked.

Short story long, the inboard caliper piston came out too far and go stuck. Then rusted up in normal fashion as things do when bare metal is exposed to the elements a 4x4 truck would encounter. It's been like this for a while. I just never thought to check the brakes before driving it.

I've got pics. The pad had been pulled up into the caliper housing and I had to use a screw driver and hammer to pound/pry it out. Rotor is smoked. As a result, the front brakes were being over worked, and now need new pads.

Also discovered the rear sway bar link on the right side came apart a while ago. We're talking ball-out-of-socket type of came apart, buttttt stopping is the priority here. Once I finish welding in the new rear shock mount on the M3, I've got to do a waterpump on the e46, then I can splurge on the Rover. Until then, it sits.

I'll just put one big rotor and caliper on the driveshaft before the rear axle. Done.

-Talk to Will for a caliper & any other part you'll need.

-Keep the rear bar on if you're mainly streeting it. You won't gain that much articulation by taking it off.

-For tires I recommend treadwright. Mine are doing quite well for me

Congratulations, and welcome to the club

Haha! I see what you did there!

So far Worldpac has gotten me by. Free next day shipping and parts at near shop cost can't be beat! There are a few things I'll need though, they are mostly of cosmetic nature.

Rover is garbage! We got a 98 rover at my house. Absolutely hate it. Everything always breaks the air ride has failed twice & the check engine never turns off. Besides that I have fun driving it. Besides getting 14 mpg & being slower than a turtle shit. I swapped out the air ride for springs. Got some fat tires on the OEM rims. I've taken it out off roading & the ride is absolutely horrific lol. So rough like a boat in 50 foot swells. It's cool though. I still love it's capabilties

The ride depends on the springs you chose to put in, I guess. As far as slow, keep in mind that these things weigh more than the same year Suburban does. (WITH aluminum bodies and engines) They got the steel where it counts.

Actually found the springs @ the junkyard. just went back this past Sunday & found another rover with springs. Still debating if I should pull those. They seem different from the ones I installed. They bolt in instead of using pins

No way of knowing load rating/position on used springs once rust sets in
