This one has about 161k. It's not as good looking as that, but it's in pretty good shape. Interior could use some work, but it's all there and looks to be just a layer of dirt. The swap looks interesting, but it's in there. Gonna drive it tomorrow.

Guess your biggest struggle will be electrical, expect just about everything to stop working. Twice, at the same time.. :)
But i love the old RRs, and the all-alu V8s whey less than an BMW m10.

The rover V8 are not bad. The only real issue is carbon buildup on the exhaust valve. RR electricals is whats bad.
I am going to be picking up a disco 1 series v8 2door in the next few months. I will probably hookup MSv3 to it and be done. As long as the car dosn't stop running I don't give the shit what breaks
Anyways old school RR are the boss off road. And the M52 needs a supercharger.sigpicComment

I've always wanted one of the early Rovers but the gas mileage with the V8 is absurd, like 12mpg combined.

My friend and I are swapping a 2.0 turbo motor from a chevy colbalt into his 1982 109" wb land rover. 200ish hp should be fun and plenty of power for it with the factory gearing concidering the factory 4 cyl was 75hp.
The.factory ecu cam be tuned using tuner pros which is a plus. I will be having to make a custom intercooler though and might just go air to water because there is almost no room in the engine bay.
I don't know if it is an issue on the later stuff, but on the early stuff, the battery can leak acid onto the frame rail on the right side and eat it away. We are having to put an entire front frame rail in his because it has rusted through.seien Sie größer, als Sie erscheinen

I have a '96 discovery. I love the thing, but I will never recommend a LR to anyone. They cost too much to maintain... they leak... they guzzle gas... but they will go anywhere you fucking want to go. And they look bad ass with a roof rack and brush gaurds and limb risers. You just have to know how to turn a wrench. I also have a complete and running '97 discovery I use for parts, scored it for $1500. The only real modification they need to be awesome offroad is a decent set of tires. I run bfg mud terrains. My '96 stays having problems though, it's been sitting for a few weeks b/c it either needs a fuel filter or a new fuel pump. Dunno, just know they are a pain in the ass. Excellent beach vehicles though being in charleston, just throw your shit in a go. The older ones, prolly yours too, have the laquer finish which turns to shit in a few years. Mine is pretty badly oxidized, but its just paint. No need to look pretty when your forging through a jungle.Comment
