Never had an issue. Used to use fram in highschool and never had an issue.

I favor Wix filters, when they're available.

Wow both of them eh? Impressive...

Anyways im a fan of Mahle. Always will be. Fram reminds me of fords and fords make me cringe when it comes to oil changes so i guess let my nuts be sucked also...:-?
                  Sometimes better...Isnt really better.

People spread this crap all over the internet yet none of them have ever had personal experience with it. Now most of the time I also use a Mann/Mahle on my cars BUT there is nothing wrong with Fram filters.

I am personally partial to German made parts for my e30's but after having lived through dozens if not 100's of oil & filter changes I can honestly say that I have never had one experience that says to me that this filter is better than that filter.

I've read bobtheoilguy & filter reviews etc etc and in the end I just think the oem Mann filter looks more at home under my hood and they are readily available for a decent price. Absent a conspicuous filter failure (that falls in to the "sucks" category) I don't see how you can know how "good" 1 is as opposed to the other.

Anything else is more marketing than science IMHO.

                        agree with ^
i've used them all on my M3 and my other e30's, it's a freakin oil filter, it filters oil through paper how can one be better than the other. The failures of an oil filter are mostly caused by user error.

I run Purolator PL20195 PureONEs. I bought a case of them on amazon when they were on sale. BITOG seems to think well of them, and I was able to remove and replace it thanks to the grippy surface by giving my exhaust the reach-around. changing your oil without jacking the car up is tits.

I use Mahle/Mann oil filters on my E46 M3 as per recommend in repair manual. Should be sufficient for the E30.

Wow, 2 pages? I know they say there's no such thing as a stupid question but come on. This is kind of like asking, "Anyone use OEM parts on their car? Are they any good?"
