re-use tensioner spring?

Hi guys, I just got this 89 325i about three weeks ago. I'm going to change the timing belt so I figured while I was in there I'd change the water pump and tensioner.
I ordered all my parts from BMA but I didn't specifically order a tensioner spring and mine didn't come with one. I was wondering if I really needed one or if I should just re-use the old one.

btw, I LOVE the car already :D and I'm glad to see that there's plenty of information already here for me. Next I plan on fixing up the linkage because the rear mount for the shift console is f'd up so Im going to just do an all out short shift upgrade.

You can always reuse that spring. Just change the pully itself.

generally springs don't wear out, unless they are damaged (ie rusted or stretched too far). the spring is only there to tension the belt while you tighten down the pulley anyway.

Nice score. Naw you don't need to change the spring yet, just the pully like mentioned above. My newly acquired briliantrot 325i has immaculate paint:) but don't get me wrong, im no bronzit hater.
