E34, all the way. E39's are nice, but they look too similar to so many other cars on the road. E34's have that classic 80's-90's BMW look to them, so attractive.

Just took a ride in an e34 5-speed 540i (was a 530/5, then replaced the engine), and it was fucking awesome. It had Eibach springs with Bilstein Sports--felt smooth as silk, yet still stuck to the road (and you couldn't budge the car if you pushed it). The interior is awesome, plenty of power...I was sold. I just hope the auto feels half that good. Yes, I'm getting an auto, it just has too much done to it to turn it down. Perhaps I'll get a 6-speed in there one day.

that #3 e34 540i is local to me. i also emailed the seller about it. havent gone to look at it though. maybe we can get a marin meet while yer up here, a few e30 guys in that area...

I'm getting the one in Houston--I got the ride in Aaron's car, paced Colton's e30s52 on the highway.

Golde30, I never got a reply from the seller, so I probably won't be buying that car. I need to find an excuse to get back up to the SF area though.

I just get sick of having to wait for the transmission to think for a couple minutes before it finally changes gears...Especially in situations where I'm asking for some 'go'

Another change in cars has happened; ebay's "second chance" offer I was sent turned out to be from a scammer that somehow managed to make his emails look identical to something you'd receive from ebay. So, I'm not getting the auto 540i in Houston--again.

I'm looking at 540/6 in Cali, and I've guaranteed myself that I'll only get a 6-speed.
