    whats this worth

Been looking for an e30 for my dad for a while. Today i ran across a 1984 318i with 42,000 original miles on it. The car is totally original and garage kept. No ones ever sat in back seat even. Color combination isn't great, its tan with a brown interior. He's asking 5700 is that a fair price?

If he has papers to prove it and the car looks like a 42k mile car would I say its about right. You cant really hate on them since they spent thousands more to drive it 40k miles. For his price you have to respect that.

I saw one locally for the same price and mileage but it was a 325i tan like new, so with that I say it could be

it always seems like the low mile cars are shit brown, tan, and bronzit. why is that? the car is probably worth the money that the seller is asking, but that doesn't mean it is a very desirable e30. i suggest holding out for the car that you want. don't buy it just because it has low miles.

also, just because the digits on the odo are low doesn't mean the car is in good condition. sometimes those low miles turn into lots and lots of problems because it sat for so long.

                    i'd get an "E"" before an 84 318 (owned an E). A 84 318 is not desirable. pass.

Why is under 100k miles a requirement? a lot of very nice E30s have well over 100k.

I had an 84...was a great first car but I'm with greese on this...at least the E has the torque and still has great gas mileage. If you have that kind of $$ to spend I'd hang on to it and wait a little longer. I've seen pretty damn clean m50 swap cars go for that and that's just in the few months I've been on here.

Is it worth it, I'd say yes. Should you buy it? Probably not. Think of an e30 that you could get for 5.7k. That's like a 6,500 asking price. Miles don't really matter if everything been rebuilt that could wear out. You could get a hell of a clean late model, well taken care of, enthusiast owned, decently modded, for that price. It won't have 100k on it, but there's no reason that that should matter whatsoever.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30
