One of the nicest and funniest people I have ever met. I have been camping with the group for years and always look forward to talking with Steve and pestering him with the loud exhaust on the bike. Really going to miss this character, but glad I could enjoy some great times with him.

Sorry to hear about this. Keep your head up bud.

I met Stevo at the last Vintage, you know when you met someone you can tell right away that they are a great person and fun to be around, that was Stevo. My sincere condolences to his family.

I love how most every picture of Steve always has him with a smile on his face, even the candid ones. And that's because he was always smiling.

He is an amazing person and I have been lucky to know him the little bit that I do.

Thanks for all the help and support Steve. It's really rare to say this, but you will TRULLY be missed.

I've only met Stevie a handful of times, but this was like losing a relative. He took everyone under his wing with the most sincerity and warmth. You could never tell his age, as he was the life of every party. Rallies will never be the same.

Just got the phone call from my mom letting me know...Freakin sad day :(. As everyone here has stated Steve was an awesome person with a huge heart. My e30 caught on fire and i was out of a ride. He loaned me a car till i could find another, that was more then my dad did. Steve was always there to talk about anything. A sad sad day and he will be missed.

Like losing a relative. I don't know what else to say past that. Steve was just an awesome person and considering I was just a 'BMW Friend' you couldn't ask for as much from a family member.

One story of his kindness. I had to take a trip for work(photography) for some volunteer work I do. I called him because I noticed I would be close to him and asked if he and Carol wanted to do dinner. Not only did we do dinner but he would not accept a repayment for the food. He also insisted that instead of driving home late at night I enjoy a relaxing stay, watch some college football and then head home the next day! That is how Steve would treat everyone.

I don't know how the Spring Rally will be without Steve being there. Heading up Tuesday to be with friends and family. Well worth the trip. I know Steve will be there in spirit to check out all the E30s.

Vintage has been on my radar to attend and I'm saddened that I will not get a chance to meet Steve.

My condolences to family and friends.

He did this everytime he would visit in Knoxville. We'd all go out to eat Chinese Buffet somewhere and he would pick up the tab and refuse repayment. He also did this at the last Fall Brodeo on the Thursday we went into town.

Got me all teary eyed when I seen that there was a memorial dinner just for his "car folks" after the memorial today.

O no I met him a few years back when I pretty much gave him an entire interior plus a bunch of other things for a convertible when I was moving. He was a very nice guy and saw him at a few V@V's. =/

He's always loved cars, and when I was a kid he would tell me how awesome the '65 and '66 Shelby Cobras were, so I always dreamed of owning one. Dad went with me to Augusta, GA when I bought mine and he was so proud for me to have one. But to show you his love for BMW's, even after I went crazy with the engine (550hp at the flywheel and only 2300 lbs) he used to say if I ever came and ran in the mountains with you guys, I'd have to run in the rear to not slow everyone down. I never knew if he was kidding or not, and he never told me he was. He always stuck to that. :)

Here's some fun facts about Dad, some may be things you weren't aware of. I don't know...

                            1) He was the youngest of 16 children. BIG FAMILY!
                            2) His very first car was a BMW Isetta
                            3) His first job was working as a bicycle repair guy for the world famous folk artist, Howard Finster. We used to go visit him all the time and knew him very well. Of course, he wasn't quite as famous back then.
                            3) When he was a young kid, his hometown of Trion, GA had only two official soap box derby races. Dad easily won both of them. I have the newspaper clippings. He built the cars all by himself.
                            4) He was a professional musician for many years. During these years, he was actually a drummer, and not a guitar player, even though he could always play guitar as well as anyone out there. He also could play a fiddle.
                            5) He was a bit of a local celebrity and went under the name, "Mr. Anonymous" and any public appearances were with a paper bag over his head. He played live and recorded many songs for the local radio stations parodying current events. Yes. The songs were just as corny and funny as the ones I'm sure he sung for ya'll.

Those are just some quick little tidbits about Dad. He was quite a character. For what it's worth, it really comforts me to see you guys liked Dad as much as he liked you. He had VERY fond memories of hanging with you guys and talked about them all the time. I'm also glad I got to meet some of you when I came up with my little son to pick Dad and his car up from the Smokies after his "burnout". :)

Thanks again for all the kind words!

Jake thanks so much for sharing we never truly know anyone. Please let me invite you to come out and have some fun with us all in memory, cobra's and go carts are welcome!!!..

Also a wild side note that Carroll Shelby passed last thursday also, can't imagine that conversation at the pearly gates!!!

                            Take care all.
