Ok... I want this scissor lift...

Crawling underneath a car every freaking weekend is starting to piss me off, especially if I am going to wrestle with a transmission, etc. Still love working on cars though... I'm just looking to make it a little easier because lying on a cold cement floor during the winter will end up in arthritis city down the road.

I just don't have $3000 burning a hole in my pocket at the moment.

I got the 2-post lift in my garage for 2k shipped, new. If you have the room, go all out and get a real lift, fuck a scissor lift...

I'm in rented space for the next year or two. Don't think my father in law will like me putting holes in his concrete floor, but when i get my own garage... totally going with a complete lift.

        Ryan,

What did you have to do to make sure your concrete pad was acceptable for mounting the posts?

I have a friend that had the two post unit installed, they came the week before he paid to verify the pad was within a certain degree of flatness, that it was a certain thickness and that the owner approved the damage they caused to the concrete. I watched in awe as they did what seemed a big job in under an hour. Man was it nice being able to drive in, and pick up the car in 10 seconds sweat free.

Yeah ive used a few scissor lifts and there good for tires oil ect... but for some jobs the lifting hardware can realy get in the way. Definetly whenever posible install a two post, much more versitle.

A normal scissor lift does suck tremendously... but these open design ones do let you get at the tranny, driveshaft, etc. Dropping subframes wouldn't be any easier, but getting at the transmission, etc. would be. Agreed, not as good as a 2 post, but not bad if you don't have the requirements (or your own garage) for a 2 post.

my dad wants to get one of thos stupid ones you drive on to and it lifts the whole car up. That would be useful for like changing the oil

useless unless your doing body work, changing tires, or oil..... and lowered E30's wont' go on them, i have a snap-on one and had to make my self some ramps just to get on it. man up for a couple years and get a 2 poster, you'll be much happier in the long run....

I hate working under a sissor lift....or any ramp type lifts.

It always gets in ur way.

The only thing they are good for are alignments.

Worst lift ever. Atleast get a 4 post lift that you can drive on for the same price. You don't have to drill in the floor and you can take them apart when you move. Other than that the 2 post is the only one worth the money.
