Cordless Impact / Nutrunners

Damn that's a lot of great advice so far. Good point about 3/8 vs. 1/2.
Thanks for the link r3z3n I'll check that out.
Good points flyboy and delatlanta. Flyboy, nutrunner is similar to your air ratchet but you can get them in electric drive. Assembly plants mostly use corded versions of these, some cordless, but i don't think they're not as common yet for home use. I basically just want something compact for tight spaces for starting / running down bolts (ie. tranny bell housing while still in car is a good application).
My priority right now is as follows:
1) 1/2 impact because I want to have it with me for track days for wheels
2) 3/8 nut runner because I don't mind breaking torques but would like to save time and effort backing / starting bolts by hand
3) 3/8 impact to help breaking some said torques above
I'll have to dig in and try to find more info about any decent (if any) cordless nutrunners that are compact and then look up same mfg'ers 1/2 impact to see if I can share batteries. I'm hoping Mil, Makita, and Bosch have some combo for a good price.
Anyway so far this gives me a good start thanks guys

You bet. I hope it helps. My Milwaukee tools are the earlier version from about 4 or 5 years ago. I don't know if the are better or worse than the current version sold today. But I really love them. The one tool that I really would like to have but wasn't offered in my system would be a high speed angle Grinder. I have been thinking about buying the newer version and modifying the battery mount to accept the old style batteries.sigpic

So for the price of one of these...? Why?
Go on craigslist and get a used compressor if you dont already have one. I have a 125psi craftsman 3 gallon compressor and it works fine. Sure, I cant use it constantly but if you give it 30 seconds after removing, say a flywheel, then you are good to go again.
Goto Walmart and get the $25 Ingersoll Rand 1/2" impact. Its cheap and it works. Goto harborfreight and get the hose/fittings. $50 for the tools and you are set.

because it can go anywhere, I can throw it in the car, bring it over to people's houses, up on my roof, in the attic.. I have a nice compressor but the electric is just more convenient. also, a cheap craftsman compressor is going to be a pile of shit, whereas a $150 impact is going to be extremely useful.

However, I don't think you'll find a better deal then this, considering the lifetime warranty that covers the batteries as well.

That dewalt might be the most reliable and its what I have, but nothing can beat the deal on those. I almost bought one when I saw that in the store and I dont need one at all.
and dewalt batteries suck both my orignal are dead.
Tested it its quality and strong, basically a bit more plasticky than a makita but exactly the same probably made in the same factory.
This guy knows what hes talkign about same answer.
except get this one

Buy Milwaukee. Your welcome.
I use a verity of cordless tools every day at work (industrial electrician/machine building) and have very few complaints. We've had pretty much every brand under the sun, and milwaukee's are what last.
Say what you want people, but tried and true, they have my business.sigpic

I personally have the Snap-On 3/8. It is a great product, but they are still using stone-age Nickel Cadmium batteries. After 2 years one is already dead and must stay on the charger. No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

milwaukee tools are made by the exact same company that makes ryobi tools.
They are essentially the exact same thing except they are sold it sets instead of peice by peice.
wikipedia it. hoover vacuums too
That said in general ryobis are always cheaper.
not to say that either brand is bad they are both good.
They are almost exactly the same as ridgid tools. I would go to home depot and do a test. Those are all top quality go by price.
My dewalt drill may outlive me but its expensive. makitas are expensive too but for some reason their low weight model is a lot cheaper than their long battery life model. I would say price is no barrier get the makitas they are very light and nice.
I cant believe snap on is a drill manufacturer someone makes a snap on drill for them, and they probably charge twice what the real maker charges.
I stand corrected, made in the usa.
Very heavy tool, very reliable, something like a dewalt competitor not a makita competitor.Last edited by stamar; 06-07-2012, 04:59 PM.
