Really though. I tried to guide him the correct way (after extensive experience in accidents, court, insurance, etc) but some people are fucking "know it alls"...

Should have been done right with the police involved immediately.

Good luck. I would've refused to take delivery of the vehicle in that condition. You're going to have a hell of a time getting anything done now that you've accepted their work. At least leaving the vehicle there you'd have a chance. Hopefully they gave you a detailed listing of all work done because it'll be next to impossible to prove that there was an accident that happened at the shop.

You can also post this on www.ripoffreport.com as many people check that site as well for instances in being ripped off.

From what you have posted the whole thing sounds like one big clusterf()ck from the get go.

What a nightmare! I hope this can be resolved and your car is repaired to your standards.
I would be one very unhappy camper if this was my vehicle. Time to spread that sense of unhappiness towards the individuals that created this situation.

When I read that you had to track the guy down that ran over your e30 and that he did not leave a note or contact information I had a feeling that you were not interacting with the most ethical of people.

In a given situation ask yourself what the hard choice is and make that one. 9 times out of 10 it results in very positive outcomes.

In this situation the hard thing would have been to stand there at the guys door and say "one moment while I get the police on the phone as I need to document this hit and run"

Then building a history which all begins from that police report.

You know this I'm sure and were just being way too nice of a guy and not rocking the boat. I get that!
There are times to rock the boat when one has been wronged and this just seems like one of them.

Please continue to update this thread with further progress as I am sure we would all like to hear about a positive outcome.

i was left with the ultimatum to take the keys or they would leave the car on the street. in a city like lawndale i wasn't going to do that. i talked to insurance beforehand and they told me that taking back the car doesn't mean i have to accept the work done. regardless, i wasn't comfortable leaving it there even one more day.

this is a little closer to home with me....i've got people telling me to get mad and threaten those that have control of the quality of my car. i gave them a chance to fix their mistakes and they failed miserably. in hindsight, sure, a hit-and-run report or insurance would have been the clear route. at the time however, everyone involved seemed honest and trustworthy within reason. i try not to be a cynical individual and have faith in human nature when i can. this time it didn't work out. no need for calling me a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles and a bitch...but it's still better than being an antagonistic prick. i don't ever want to be the guy that goes around threatening people with lawsuits and repercussion.

for now, i've been put in line with a lawyer i'm hoping to get a consultation with and get rolling on the current situation at hand. i've filed claims with the BAR and BBB as well as left negative reviews where i can. it's a start.

I'm sorry, I'm just tired and had a long night. I'm being a bully, but you're also being a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles in some aspects. I wish you well on your repairs, legal actions, and everything you're doing. It's a shitty situation, and I hope you recover in the same state you were-prior to this accident.

Call immigration on the shop, that should cost him 1500 - 5k in penalties, in case there's any illegals working there. Call OSHA and have a surprise inspection set up.
Me, I'm no roll model, so I would have gotten justice the night of delivery of car.
Tools would have gone missing, aircraft striper on other customer's car, flat tires, scratches whatever it takes. Hurt them in the pocket, if they refused to do what's right!

                                I'm a text/call away and it's the weekend..............buwhahahhahaha.
