I had a guy in a Denali back over the corner of my E30. Seems people in those big SUVs can't see our cars out the back.
Sucks your going through so much on yours. The shop I had mine in had it done in about a week. As far as fixing vs replacing.. I questioned them when they said they could repair it. The entire corner was crunched in on the fender. Their metal guy worked it good and they called me in before blocking it and prep for paint. I have to say those metal guys have the touch. Looked brand new.

Well wow, you sound like an extremely condescending douche when everyone on here is just looking out for him. That's horrible to hear.
I've had 3 hit and run and 1 recorded accident in 2 different e30's, luckily (and unfortunately) the one accident totaled my first car after it was hit and run at the college a few months earlier. Unfortunately, my second car was hit and run (pass rear quarter panel) on my birthday in a parking garage while I was paying a ticket out of state, and then reversed into by a pickup with a hitch (trunk, license plate, spoiler) at a bar one night.
I have horrible luck.
lol @ all the kids chiming in about legality and entitlement. Since when is it illegal for a technician to drive your car? I mean shit, you give them the keys, isn't that permission? Joyrides are an entirely different story, but unless its proven with an accident report or eyewitness testimony...
Also gonna have a laugh at the bodywork nazis, yeah guys I'm sure these professionals don't know about taking trim off, prepping jambs, or block sanding; OP didn't tell you but he took it to Maaco.
I wish you luck, dude. Sounds like you're being cool about it... I'd probably have flipped a lid if it happened a year or two ago. Hopefully we get to keep another E30 on the road... and with an unbranded title.Leave a comment:

at least it looks like it's progressing and the work is being done correctly. And of course techs can drive the car - this isn't portal, how are they supposed to move it and make sure the work is done correctly? Plus MOST shops probably won't be joyriding 30 year old BMWs anyway.Leave a comment:

still not fully prepped for paint....i've been stopping by every morning. i don't want to rush them, but i need it done sometime this year too.Leave a comment:

Well, it seems as though bronzit e30's have the best luck, since I have yet to be hit by anyone or anything in my car for the time I've owned it!! Why can't someone just hit me!?!Leave a comment:

Yeah the kid with parents who practice law for a living lol. It is illegal to drive ones car without given permission. He made it sound like it was a joy ride, which there was no reason for, and he also didn't sign a release of liability allowing the tech to drive his car. Sure they can move it around the shop, and drive it on the lift, but public streets are pretty much off limits bud. He wasn't getting a motor swap done where they wanted to tune or test out their work, he was getting body work done that requires the car to be stationary. Who's to say they're professionals anyways? It was described as a "hood" shop, anyone can obtain a dba, business license and open up shop doing shotty work. We were just looking out for his best interest.Leave a comment:
