Vert, then coupe, then sedan. Wagons in there between vert and coupe, depending on location. Some may put wagons before 'verts.

I would get a 2-door. Unless you need to transport stuff and have a family, why not go with a more sporty look?

I like the sedan's proportions more but an early model coupe is a damn close second for me.

It's interesting to hear about the arm-out-window door lock conundrum; I don't know if I could deal with that.

I have two bronzits. I love a clean bronzit.

But, a clean bronzit is very, very hard to obtain. My bronzits look like turds.

Whichever... The rest of the car matters more.
With family of four, more doors is better, but the sport seats are sooo much nicer than the others, and doubtful you will find good seats in the 4dr. Seats matter more than door counts.
With a racecar, 4dr rules cause you can load up wheels, tools, camp gear and all sorts of stuff with no need for a truck and trailer (2dr with roll cage leaves you no room to shove wheels n stuff back there).
Good luck. I love shopping for and buying e30s.

Both cars share the same floor pan...

With that said each have their pros and cons.

4 doors are easier rear access, and a bit stiffer due to a more centralized B pillar. 2 doors are much better equipped and more sharp.
