My car has been in my family since 91 (I drive an 89).
From the moment i first rode in the car when i was young (I was born in 92), ive been in love with this car. From the time I was born to the time i started driving the car, quite a bit of work had been done to the car. Of course maintanence had been done to the car, but the engine and tranny had been swapped once in its lifetime.
Ever since ive started driving it, I of course had to inherit the issues it had, which im willing to deal with cause i fucking love this car. I also currently make a pretty good income so i can spend more on it.
But for some reason when ever i run into a problem with the car, im constantly getting people telling me to just sell the car. "Its a money pit", "Its really just a piece of junk", "You need something more reliable".
Im honestly not ready to let this car go. Not only do i still think its a good car, but it had a lot of sentimental value to me. Im willing to spend the extra money go keep her going. Id rather be broken down on the side of the road with this car than any other car. Id rather stick with this, 1 i dont have a car payment, 2 I KNOW whats wrong with it, 3 theyre so simplistic i can do a lot of the work myself, 4 its a fucking awesome car. I dont care how much money my dad put into it prior to me driving the car. Why not put my money into it too? Things go out in old cars like this. I know there is a point to stop wasting money on a car, but my journey is far from over with is car.
So have you ever been told you should sell your car?
Is your car just a car, or does it have sentimental value to you?
Thought this would be a cool subject to talk about.
