I was going to get a set of racks for my M3 but I don't want to risk the paint, and I don't entirely trust the rain gutters (they seem a little loose to me.) I certainly don't trust my rather expensive custom frame(s) on a rack that I don't entirely trust either. (The cost of fixing the car, the rack and the loss of the uninsured one off bike makes the thought rather unattractive.) I just pull the rear seat out, wrap the bike in a sheet and carefully set it where the rear seat would go.

That 32" does look good, but I'm wondering how a 44" would look, anyone have pictures?
I got my Yakima setup on and it's wonderful. Found 58" bars (cut them down to about 44"), A1 towers, and locks all for 100$, not bad. Got the Copperhead bike rack and it works perfectly. Got it all just in time for the semester. Now I just want the fairing.
Will, the Yakima rack system is extremely solid, has rubber protection and has little chance of damaging car or bike. The greatest effect I've seen is that is displaces the weather stripping a bit.Different strokes for different folks.

Here are some pictures I gathered, I'm not exactly sure about the sizes of all of them but you can make educated guesses.
This is a 38" Thule one, just to give an idea of the scale
Very large Thule one
This is probably a 38" Yakima fairing
Edit: After looking at it again, it looks the same as the ones below...
I would assume both of these are 44" Yakima fairings
