I know some of you guys drive your e30's in the winter (chris) but I'm just not into it. Putting our cars through that kind of punishment isn't fair, and if you can afford to get another car and have a place to put the e30 for the winter, why not?
Well, up until now, the downside has always been giving up some of the fun factor you get driving the e30 when getting a winter beater. The past few winters I've been in a Honda Accord - needless to say, there's nothing "fun" about driving the car.
But I'm borrowing my friend's Wrangler he has for sale, and I told him I'm gonna buy it. I'll tell you this thing is an absolute blast to drive. Insanely short wheelbase means it's so easily maneuverable around town, you're up high so you can see all four corners of the vehicle, and with a 5 speed and I-6, they're pretty damn quick too.
It's no e30, but it's a perfect winter car to keep you happy while the snow falls. I can't stop smiling, and I keep finding excuses to take the thing out :)
Just a thought to those of you who may be considering getting a winter car.
