      That guy looked upset.

Do most insurance companies payup when you tracked and wrecked your m3? Damn hope so!

Around here insurance might cover it. If its not wheel to wheel racing (such as autocross or an open track day), then it can be called "driver education" and its covered*. Otherwise, no coverage.

            * Of course, don't be surprised if/when your insurance co. decides to fight the claim tooth and nail.

That guy is lucky the passenger side roof took the brunt of the impact. If it had been on his side the odds of him being killed would be pretty high....most likely a snapped neck from the roof coming down on him.

Events like this never leave my mind when I go out to the track. Most HPDE organizers (there are some renegade clubs out there) put a lot of emphasis on safety; there's always a measured degree of risk involved and the potential accident always looms. Its because of this I'm perfectly content with my E30 for track events. Should the unfortunate happen (and I live to tell about it), replacement of my car shouldn't be more than $4K....that's including most mods I have already. The guys running the pricier hardware are the ones taking a big gamble.

that's not support for a roll cage, it's evidence you should listen to what they are telling you in the classroom for your safety. he would have been fine if he didn't try to get back on like that, and just gone straight off

+1 for roll bar or cage on the track.

looks like the rear went out and he was tryn to correct. if he had turned the wheels the other way he could have just spun out...oh well.
