My gas gauge has worked flawlessly since I've had the car. The temp gauge on the other hand....

On the '84 I was terrified that the gas gauge didn't work because I didn't see gas light turn on for 2 1/2 years. Also never realized that the way the marks for 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 related to the speed at which the meter moved. That was a WONDERFUL face palm moment.

So far all 3 of my e30's have read pretty damn accurate. the 325e would occasionally decide to wave at me for a minute then go back to where it was. I thought that was pretty friendly.

Pull the senders and test them, it takes like 10 minutes including pulling the back seat out. Having two people makes it easier.

                  My one sender was toast.

^ this then swap out the clusters with the new sender and see what you get? process of elimination

The senders should read 60ohms or so all the way up (so tipped upside down)

and around 2 when standing straight up like normal

Your car might have only one

13 button obc ftw, press 1000 and 1 at same time and fuel remaining is displayed in liters, mutilply by divide by 4 and that's how much you have in fuel roughly. Exact division is divide by 3.78.

my cluster used to work fine.
but as of late, my temp gauge, speedo, and odo have started to suck le cock..legitimate excuse to swap in a euro cluster??? I think so.

                              Mine works perfectly.

Had to replace both level senders though.

Early cars prefacelift had smaller tanks with 2 pumps...including m3. Later 88 facelift cars had a larger tank with single pump.
