What would an updated e30 design look like?

you could modernize a lot about the e30 without changing how anything really looks. most people actually do moderize the e30.

swap in better lights(no more sealed crap)
swap motors(more POWA)
swap to coilovers(better suspension)
swap bigger brakes(stops better)
install camber front and back and toe adjustments for the rear(full alignment)

and realistically a newer style ABS unit could be installed very easily and installing a passenger air-bag would not take much effort. heck you could even put in curtain airbags and they would sit behind/above the headliner without notice. and newer bumpers are not that much better than what the e30 offers.

the e30 is modernized in many other aspects compared to even some newer cars. weight equalization, front caster for handling, drivetrain designed to drop in a heavy collision so that it does not push into the passenger compartment ect...

i thought i saw a video on the youtube thread showing a e30 crash from below and the drive train dropped out of the way. maybe i got mixed up?

Apparently by paying them money they'll send the new replacement body panels to build this updated E30...

I just came across this over on Bimmerpost a few weeks ago who knows if we'll ever see a production example

That concept looks uglier than homemade sin. Also the 1 series looks horrible to. Doesn't looks aggressive enough. Looks friendly and happy like some thing you would see in the movie cars. Almost girly. That being said it is a the most similar car they make to the e30, but compared to how good the e30 was back when it was new, the 1 series is junk and forgettable.

But if one was to be redesigned, it probably would look like a fat guy trying to hold in a fart. Think bloated and misshaped.
