Gladly, I have a whole month to look around and see what I want to get. I'm just wondering what sort of models are better known for their reliability. I'd be one step ahead with the E30 in my search though.

Volvo's are a good idea, along with the old Jap stuffs.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

My grandma had a Ford Escort station wagon that had over 220,000 miles and I don't remember her ever having problems with it.

You could always go over to Japan and get that new Evo IX station wagon and import it back over here. It'd be a *bit* over your budget but so, so worth it :D

Why don't you spend the $1500 on making the E30 more reliable? I had total of 200K miles on my two E30 and they never left me stranded. For $1500 just for maintenance, you can get a lot of things done.

eh I would go with an SUV or Truck.

I had 2 E30's, far from practicle, I bought my 4Runner as a daily, its handy especially when I need to haul people or things.

The 318 is tip top, but with the suspension and the bling bits, it's not really suited for the college environment.

My dad suggested a 4Runner as well James. Thanks for the ideas, and keep them coming.

your right about that!! my neighbor has got a old volvo 240DL wagon and selling it for $500 bucks. dont know how many miles are on it, but i have noticed they have had that car for about 10 YEARS and running it without a problem. Its perfect to lug stuff to/from college which i think is what their daughter used it for.

An E30 or even an E34 would be last on my list of a cheap, reliable DD...

How much space do you really need? 95ish Honda Accords have good space, and are good DD's.
