At 18 I'm far too cynical to let any person besides myself touch my E30.
But to each his own. You'd really have a lot more fun and maybe appreciate your car more if you DIY on everything.

Post pics though! All this talk has got me excited.

Sometimes it's convenience or simply opportunity cost.

"Would I rather pay an extra $20 to have it done quickly, correctly, and be able to do my homework while I wait?" or sit in the garage, jack it up (this is a pain if you only have a factory jack lol), hunt for tools, get dirty/sweaty, have to deal with disposing of the used oil properly, etc.

I pay $75 for mine at a local BMW shop- Casey Motorsports. I'm supporting a small (yet growing) business, and I got in good with the owner for other work (very generous pricing). I don't mind it at all.

This. Loosen the drain plug, then slip the oil drain pan under, remove drain plug and let 'er roll. No jacks needed.

....or just go to a shitty car wash and let the oil drain there.

Fluid Evacuator FTW. I just got one, haven't had it out of the box yet though.

They recycle the water, so yeah, eco warrior me.
