    Verifying authenticity

So I have been patiently waiting for this:

to arrive and it did today. Now other than the OBVIOUS stamp there's nothing else on this... NOTHING. How can I tell this is the real deal or if I just have a sexy rip off?

Is there no part number on the back anywhere? Nothing?

After a little closer inspection its fake as fake can be.....

But here's the tip on how to make it.

Grind off the BMW on your stock valve cover. Powder coat the valve cover. Polish the ridges. Put on any brushed aluminum letters you have layin round.

            Yay for fakes.

Yes, I doubt Alpina would sand cast exact copies of the BMW valve cover, just to put their name on it. There would, at least, be some different baffling inside or something!

                el fake-o.

I don;t think they ever made anything that looked like that and the letters are a little too chunky and the "A"s are too wide at the tops.

It's pretty obvious its a fake because the lettering doesn't look like the authentic Alpina, as Dave said. It's still pretty sweet though. But is the lettering seriously just stuck on there?

Fake or not, it's still pretty fucking badass. I'd rock it.

Someday, one of these is going to be in my car. I've been lusting after one of these for years, and whenever one pops up, I can't afford it. But that was also when I had my crappy, minimum wage job.

Can you blame me? Look at the damn thing!

It's one of those parts I've wanted ever since I got my first E30. I just love the design.
