Talk me into or out of buying this super eta

Like the title says, found an 88 325e for sale locally. One owner, 181k miles, 5 speed. From the pics he sent me the body looks good, no dents or rust that I could see. He did say it was rear ended in 2002 and the trunk/bumper/tail lights were replaced. I am hoping to go look at it tonight or tomorrow to check for rust or any other faults. Seller wants 3k for it although I might be able to talk him down to 2500 if he doesn't get a broken window regulator fixed. So r3v, what say you?

It is actually listed as a 325. Didn't know they ever dropped the "e." You learn something every day.

This is why I'm a little more willing to spend a little more money on it. Add that to the fact that it is a one owner car, and it doesn't seem like such a bad deal after all, at least to me. I will also add that I have a buyer lined up for my 318is already, so its essentially a trade plus 900 bucks for a car in much better condition.

Before I get jumped on by anyone for going from the m42 to m20b27, let me say that my 318is has tons of body damage. Not all that noticeable, but the PO was quoted 3k to fix everything. The engine is from my parts car that I lazily put in this summer just so I would have something to drive to college, the AC doesn't work, and it needs a new wiper motor. In short, it would take a lot of money to make it as nice as I want it. I also just don't like to have to wait til 4k rpm to have fun, so an eta is ideal. The fact that this is a super eta is just a bonus. I'm going to look at it tomorrow, so I'll report back once I do. On to the pics!

Note: I noticed the tails are early model and 88s had late model. Already asked about it and he said it was part of the repair from when it was rear ended. Makes no sense to me why they would go through the trouble of converting it to early tails, but whatever.

It would probably get the plastic ones from my parts car if I could find a late rear valance in good condition. Or euros if they pop up at the right time for the right price

That's a pretty big red flag.
