    About my E30 S50 + insurance payout

USAA auto insurance paid me $12.5k for the car. I bought it back for $400.

Keep your receipts for all of your mods/swap work put into the car, all I'm gonna say.
RIP: Delphin '89 E30 with S50 swap and lots of goodies :'(

    Then: '04 Evo 8 RS, 500 whp/420 wtq 2900 lb E85 AWD turbo shits 'n giggles

Now: 2003 BMW M5 in Sterling Gray

Damn! So are you gonna get another shell and swap it all over? Looks like you got an excellent deal on it man.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I always keep a binder full of receipts for all my cars. It's extremely helpful for dealing with insurance, also helps keep a handle on how much money you spend on the car since you can see how much you've already spent.

Nice! I got just shy of that for my 318iS, but buyback was a bit more. Private appraisals/receipts help an incredible amount! Glad to hear they treated you fairly.

Is this more or less than what you bought the car for initially?

Sweet. This reminds me of the time my first E30 got rear ended. Through all the pain and inconvenience, I clung onto the only positive thing about the whole ordeal...the E30 M3 I was going to get from the settlement. =]

Christ, that would drive me insane.

I stick the reciepts in an envelope and don't total it all up.

Yup keep a folder, occasionally get recent sales figures, having an agreed policy makes it a lot easier too, they can't salvage the title unless its beyond their fix point.

I had a project VW Corrado I built an ABT 3.3L motor got rear ended totalled they offered $3300 (KBB) i gave over 10k in receipts I ended up with $9800-$500 buy back, bought another Corrado for $2500, swapped it drove it for two years got popped by smog inspector... parted it out for @$18k... Win, win. Oh and got another $3k two years later after a year of therapy. Win again.
                              Rich!
