the supposed "programming of the key" at the dealership is just locking the lost key, and letting the CAS know there is a new key- which doesn't even need to be done.
the keys that are being placed into the CAS slot are just learning the comfort access codes, the key buttons already works before that(when it comes from BMW).
last year we had 2 X5s and 1M3 stolen at work, the are using a huge lever to twist the door key ock in circles- then get in the car and "read something out of the OBD slot"
then the next evening they were coming in and stealing the car with a programmed fob.
only found this out because I had to pull in another X5 that was already broken into, that was planned to get the next evening.
this is nothing new, been going on for a while.
