Wow. My father just picked up an E90 M3 recently (our first vehicle with the new-fangled key/remote/theft device) and I couldn't help but notice that unlike traditional remotes, there was no 'panic' or 'alarm' button to be found. The fact they can so easily be reprogrammed is shocking as well; hopefully now that a mdeia outlet like BBC has brought this to light, BMW will do something to remedy the situation (whatever that may be.)

Is that my E30's resale value going up or am I just glad to see it's still in the driveway?

So there should be cheap S65B40's everywhere, right? And the EWS is pointless anyway?

      I want that motor...

For anyone wanting to avoid this, a simple toggle switch on the power to the OBDII port and this threat goes away.

Hold the trunk open button down in the vicinity of the car.

There was another story of people janking the code the key sends to the car and using it to get in. That was on any BMW w/remote unlock. This is a new way entirely.

If this works then why did the thieves have to manually push the car away? Were they just trying to be quiet?
