@^And the pliers thing...there are stupid people who do stupid things with any car niche. Whether it's stance guys who do that or fuh raze guys who's first mod is to strip their car because racecar. Just because someone on stanceworks does something stupid doesn't mean that people on r3v don't do stuff that's equally as bad. And obviously the majority of the people generally do things correctly. That blue e46 is absolutely amazing. The work that went into those fenders is unimaginable and the result is beautiful.

A thought on "stance"

I almost feel that the whole "stance" thing is the politically correct car culture. Where you can't tell someone that their "style" is completely silly and that they are a moron and get an F for even trying. But they give the guy praise and tell them that its baller. I'm sorry, if you are doing something completely stupid like trying to fit deep dish wheels on your car that don't even fit and then put undersized tires on them so they don't rub. You sir are a dumbass. And yes in other car circles people do criticize on eachothers rides. It's not all rainbows and jellybeans in the car world! If theres a large group of people who are saying something negative about a car, and they are car enthusiast themselves. Well you might want to look twice at what you're doing.

to each his own.........
I loved to hear from all the redneck/hillbillies that I ruined my truck by lowering it back in the minitruckin days, fuck em, it worked great for what i wanted.
If we all had the same style, there wouldn't be ugly cars out there to gossip about.
I for one, actually like ALOT but not all of the stance stuff out there. sure, my M3 is too low to be useful on a racetrack, so F'in what, I don't race it, and I like to look at it.

Also, this is how my old setup looked. Now, the front poked too much for me, but I auto-crossed on this setup and won my class. Again, is it optimal? No. Was it better than stock? Yep. Beat my friend on H&R's and 225/45 Hankooks as well.
And oh hey, somebody said tucking tire front and back is bad? :P

stance has always been "in." I think its just blown up on the interweb with places like stanceworks and the fit garage etc. When i was in highschool, it was all aobut lowered pickup trucks, so thats what i was into!
Hot Rod guys have been doing the stance thing forever though. My dad's '65 GTO was tuckin' tire and still handled well. Our neighbors '32 ford was on the ground. These guys have been doing this stuff forever.
Yes, i really dont understand the stretched tire, "sick lip" mentality, but i also dont understand why people thing a '93 civic hatchback deserves $1500 BBS rims and a turbo kit, but who the hell cares?
The pics above are a major win, though!Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Looks are subjective, so I won't touch on that.
Doesn't handle good, compared to what? I'll admit, there are people that throw a cheap set of coils on and don't even align the car after, but that's not to say that the car can't handle well. Most all of the good quality coilovers out there will likely out handle stock suspensions, even when lowered to the point of "stance". Granted, it's not the best possible handling setup, but they are driving on the street after all. In an e30's case, I would put money on stretched tires handling better than the stock 195/60's.
Undriveable, we seem to get around ok ;) granted speed bumps aren't the most fun thing in the world, but I have driven my car over 30,000 miles all up and down the east coast with less than an inch of ground clearance, I wouldn't consider that undriveable. Bagged people have it even better.
Couldn't agree more, Sucks to roll hard.
